The Potterers' Anthem - by Susan King
(Sung to tune of "And did those feet ....")

And did those legs
Of olden bone
Cycle the lanes of rustic home.

And they would meet
In all the pubs
Trusting in their wheels and hubs.

And when they tired
They would seek rest
In shelters and church porches. ~

Pottering around
Pottering on their bikes
Pottering everywhere, even on a trike.

Then swop their news
Tell stories from the heart
And ask around for ancient bike parts.

And if they couldn't
Beg, borrow or lend 'em
They would shout USQUE AD MORTEM BIBENDUM.

( WITH APOLOGIES TO BILL BLAKE)

usque ad mortem bibendum
